Kano is a multi-media creative who primarily works with natural and repurposed materials. Her art handling experiences in art spaces across Hawai‘i Pae ‘Āina form the groundwork for an aspiration to cultivate place-based methodologies that shape both thought and creation. Rooted within the multicultural intersection of her Japanese ancestry and Maui-grown perspective, her art blends 和風 wafū elements with understandings of aloha ‘āina. Guided by the belief that art is the purest expression of the soul, she hopes to give form to foundational truths of the waking world while opening portals into the dreamy spirit realm.
