Art as Meditation

This was the first series where I experimented painting on wood. It changed my life. It was an uncomfortable exercise that forced me to forget precision and to go BIG. Painting completely intuitively returned parts of myself I lost sight of after a traumatic moment in adolescence. Working with the natural patterns in the wood grain, I experimented with layering eastern sacred geometry, playing with dimensionality, and opacity. The burst of color symbolizes the return of my child self who used to paint everything in rainbow colors without a thought. This is the breaking of the mask, an emergence of the soul, and the main process through which I have been able to reclaim my truest self.
